Wanderer: A Loft in Manhattan

New York City, 2019 | Interior

Life is a journey. Though space and across time, the recurring pattern of life is to depart and return. And every time that we have returned, to have departed from someplace else. Something else. Someone else. Life is the memories that we collect across these distances.

As a reflection on these distances, the character for wander has been drawn on a large sheet of paper. The sheet is further divided and framed as 5 separate fragments. In the final installation,  the arrangement of these frames is calibrated to evoke disjunction and separation.

Each frame captures a partial image of the main character. Each brushstroke that extends beyond its bounding frame conjures a memory of another fragment to which it was once adjoined.
